Welcome HBA Executive !!!

Dear HBA Executive,

Welcome to this special page that has been created just for you.  We have received so many requests to conduct programs at the local HBA level that we have instituted an exclusive arrangement for your educational needs.

Executive Officers, Education Directors and Membership Chairs from all over the country have requested that we develop programs that are:

  • Content Rich (programs full of take-home, no-nonsense strategies that can be easily and immediately implemented)

  • Industry Specific (education based on the needs and current issues of the industry)

  • Inspirational (people are educated, entertained and motivated to act)

  • Affordable (for HBA's of all sizes to increase membership and generate non-dues revenues)

To that end, we have put together some information to help you create exceptional meetings for your HBA membership.  If at any time you think you need more information for your HBA group, please send an email to Paul Montelongo.

FAQs

For whom is this exclusive arrangement designed?  It is designed for local chapters and state chapters of the National Home Builders Association.  You must be an approved chapter of the NAHB in order for this program to work for you.  It is not designed for corporations.  Their needs are very different.  It is not designed for other associations.  Builders, Contractors and Associates of the NAHB have specific membership needs and as a long-time member, Paul Montelongo understands those needs.

Mr. Montelongo, what advantage is there for our BA to offer programs outside of existing NAHB programs?  You are correct.  NAHB has many courses.  In fact, Paul is an approved instructor of many of those courses.  Montelongo has found in his work with industry leaders that the face of the industry changes almost on a monthly basis.  Association designations are critical for credibility and many members have said that they got even greater insight from Paul's insider point of view.  Therefore, he has developed even deeper, more content-rich programs in the areas of Sales Training, Marketing and Branding, Business Management, Leadership and Staff Development.  Montelongo's programs dig deeper into the issues and challenges facing the housing industry on a daily basis.  He also has a unique set of sessions that are specifically designed for associate members and vendors who sell to the housing industry.

How can our HBA increase the value to our membership?  The most successful HBA's in the country have an aggressive, "out of the box" educational agenda.  They realize that an educated member is a member that is much easier to retain.  HBA's who have a full educational calendar are making money for their HBA with their programs.  Educational courses provide more than useful information.  They furnish an opportunity for important networking and camaraderie between members.  Responding to the specific needs of your membership is critical.  The right education does that.

What topics would you offer to our HBA?  Here are the basic topics that you may consider:

  • Thinking Outside the Sale

  • Mega-Marketing on a Shoe String Budget

  • Harness the Power of You

  • How to be a Sales Magnet to Builders

  • Leadership is a Choice

  • 50 Sensational Ideas to Immediately Improve Your Business

  • How to Create a Unique Professional Experience™ for Your Customers

  • How to Deliver a Dynamic Sales Presentation

You can get more specific information on these and other topics by viewing Montelongo's personal website:  www.paulmontelongo.com/specialtytopics.htm.

Who is Paul Montelongo?  Montelongo is a full time professional speaker that specializes in the construction industry. Paul is a regularly featured speaker at many of the NAHB conferences, an industry author and an experienced 25-year contractor. Read Paul's complete biography.

Why would an HBA want to invest in a professional speaker?  Forget for a moment that Montelongo is a professional speaker.  The facts are that education may cost a little, but lack of education can cripple a person's life.  Members continue to say their invested dollar in the HBA is worth every penny when they are moved to action.  A professional speaker is dedicated to a level of educational performance that exceeds that of part-time, inexperienced public speakers.  It is similar to hiring your part-time handyman brother-in-law to build your home or hiring a bona fide professional builder. Read all about Paul's performance guarantee to Meeting Planners.

Isn't a professional speaker going to be too expensive for our HBA?  "You may be right".  However, you may be pleasantly surprised with this exclusive arrangement. Paul Montelongo has made it affordable for all HBA's.  Some HBA's may want to partner with other HBA's in the geographical area and other HBA's may find it advantageous to obtain sponsorships.  The fee structure will be worth the investment.

We have had other "professional speakers" talk to our group and our members felt like it was a sales pitch for their products and services.  What can we expect from you?  Mr. Montelongo will never sacrifice the content, quality and integrity of his programs in the name of selling a few books.  In fact, Mr. Montelongo is one of only a few speakers in the world that has a written guarantee for his programs.  Read all about Paul's performance guarantee to Meeting Planners.

What can Mr. Montelongo do for our associate members?  Like many associations around the country, HBA's are comprised of a large percentage of associate members.  Associates want to sell their goods and services to builder members. Mr. Montelongo believes that they should.  Vendors are an integral part of our industry and they should take advantage of every opportunity to network with their builder clients.  That includes becoming an active member of an HBA.  Paul conducts a very popular program called, "How to Be a Big Sales Magnet to Builders".  If you would like a complimentary copy of his book by the same title, please send Paul an email.

What is the fee structure for this exclusive HBA arrangement?  The objective in this exclusive arrangement is for your HBA to maximize Paul's talents, insights and time for the benefit of your membership.  To that end, we highly encourage you to take advantage of Paul's arrival by having him do at least two programs in one day.  Here are a few options.

  1. Half-day educational program on a relevant topic for your association.   This program can be delivered in the morning or the afternoon.   Then Paul will present an energetic 30-45 minute keynote address at your mixer, awards banquet or monthly meeting in the evening.  This package is $3,500.
  2. Full-day presentation of one of NAHB's designation programs for CGR, CGB, CGA, GMB, CSP.  Paul will present a program that has been developed and approved by NAHB.  Paul will add his personal insights to the program.  Then Paul will present an energetic 30-45 minute keynote address at your mixer, awards banquet or monthly meeting in the evening.  This package is $3,500.
  3. Two 90-minute programs delivered in the same day.  For example, Paul can deliver a sales seminar to SMC members in the morning and a Sales Magnet program to associates in the afternoon.  Then Paul will present an energetic 30-45 minute keynote address at your mixer, awards banquet or monthly meeting in the evening.  This package is $3,500.
  4. Miscellaneous sessions can be packaged upon discussion.  Mr. Montelongo can emcee your awards banquet or appreciation dinner.  He can also present a lively keynote address at any of your special functions.  Mr. Montelongo's fee for any of these is $3,500.  (It is best to invest in an educational seminar while Mr. Montelongo is in your area.)  To further discuss, send an email to Paul.
  5. Travel and accommodations shall be reimbursed in addition to the program fees.  You may pay by credit card or by check.
  6. For additional information on NAHB designation programs delivered as a solo event, please send an email to Paul or call toll free 866-494-1911.
  7. Send an email to Paul for program and fee information about Canada, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
  8. Programs must be delivered by June 1, 2005.  Offer expires 6/1/05.

What are ways to create non-dues revenues for our HBA with Paul's educational programs?  There are several ways.  The exact details will depend on a variety of factors, for example, the number of attendees.  However, consider some of these ways.

  1. Small Business dinner roundtable event with industry leaders.  Many organizations have sold sponsorships during the evening mixer for their local housing industry leaders to have dinner with Mr. Montelongo.  At these roundtables, Montelongo has been able to share in-depth insights about the future of our industry, the composition of the work force, creative financing and marketing strategies and advanced management skills with the dinner sponsors.
  2. Though these programs are specifically designed for the housing industry, Paul has presented programs in which other associations partnered to take advantage of the education.  For example the local plumbing, electrical or roofing association can be invited to the programs and pay a premium for the opportunity.
  3. Resource sales.  It is possible for your HBA to invest in a quantity of Paul's books or CD's to resell to your association members.  Paul has arrangements with several HBA's and with BuilderBooks.com.  You can consider purchasing resources at a wholesale level and then resell at a retail price.
  4. Special management and leadership sessions during Paul's visit to your HBA.  An exclusive meeting can be arranged for your most loyal and prominent members to take advantage of Montelongo's extensive housing industry business experience.  A separate fee can be charged for this event and the revenue shared with your HBA.
  5. Vendor and associate member sponsorship.  HBA's frequently have a large vendor associate sponsor an important program for it's members.  Paul will then work specifically with the vendor and his sales staff with a private educational session.
  6. Multiple programs.  If your HBA has an educational commitment for the entire year and Mr. Montelongo is a part of that commitment, you can receive discounts for your commitment to multiple programs.

Send Paul an email to discuss any of the above opportunities or to create other non-dues revenue opportunities.
